My parents might be eligible for a PLUS Loan. How do they apply?

We strongly recommend you and your parent look at other options before taking out a PLUS loan. If all your options have been considered and your parent still wants to take out a PLUS Loan, follow the steps below:

  1. Tell your parent to go to www.studentaid.gov
  2. Click the Log In button.
  3. Click Request Direct PLUS Loan link.
  4. Click the Parent PLUS link, fill out the form, and submit it .

Your parent will be notified immediately if the loan application is approved or denied.?If approved, the PLUS loan application will be transmitted to PCC.?Your parent must also complete a PLUS Loan Master Promissory Note at?www.studentaid.gov

If approved, PLUS Loan applications take between 7-10 days to be processed. We will notify you of your parent’s approval amount.

Please note: The PLUS Loans are approved based on creditworthiness and not on need.
