Course Description

Presents intermediate/advanced cardiovascular dance fitness that fuses world music with dance choreography. Includes interval training that is built in by sequencing high intensity work periods followed by active rest periods, which develops both aerobic and anaerobic energy systems. Promotes maximizing caloric expenditure.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

  1. Perform  dance fitness choreography at a proficient level.
  2. Articulate an understanding of interval training and its benefits to fitness.
  3. Improve overall physical conditioning and fitness through continued participation in dance fitness.
  4. Identify different music from different countries and genres.  
  5.  Identify and analyze the importance of health and safety while performing activity- based movements. 
  6. Demonstrate proper form and technique while using integrated footwork and dance movements in a progressive sequence. 
  7.  Discuss the lifelong benefits of aerobic fitness.
