Details about this class
Students are expected to attend class via Zoom in a safe and welcoming learning environment. Students are required to participate in class activities and contribute to group discussions and team projects. Student attendance and participation are considered part of the final course grade. This class is a richer experience for all involved when learners are actively engaged and share their experience, strength and hope.
- This course introduces students to career planning and employment communication in business to maximize employment opportunities. It is designed to be taken early in the student’s business degree program.
- Career management and planning involves helping people choose or enter an occupation. It also includes self-assessment of interests, values, and skills, understanding the steps in career decision-making, and learning the necessary employability skills to obtain and keep a job once a choice has been made.
- The mission of this course is to provide an opportunity for students to learn about and develop the necessary skills to assist in career planning. It is recommended that students take this course to help them secure beneficial internships and better prepare for work in their desired field once they graduate.
Upon completion of the course, students should be able to:
- Apply tools to research, evaluate, and select employment opportunities in the business field to further career success.

Students in this course are expected to attend the weekly zoom class, check announcements and email, study the learning materials, complete assignments, and work on projects. For each credit hour, a student should expect to spend at least 3 hours each week during a 12-week course. You can expect to spend at least 6 hours per week on this 2 credit course.
It's important to read through everything carefully. Read, and then read again. If something is still unclear, please ask your classmates in the Ask Questions! discussion area or send the instructor an email. I also highly recommend uploading your picture or avatar to your profile. This will help create a sense of place and community in our virtual classroom.

No show policy
Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.
