We had a good class today. Here are the slides. We reviewed the jobs at the airport, pp. 86 and we did A and C on p. 87. We talked about the simple present, which is the verb tense to talk about everyday activities. We looked at some examples in Unit 4: the sentences on p. 68, the chart on p. 70 and the final -(e)s pronunciation on p. 71.
Homework for Wednesday:
  1. English in Action 2 Unit 5: Airport Jobs. Review vocabulary. Review simple present form and pronunciation.

  2. Work on/finish extra practice ?#4 (practice each skill – you choose how) and then fill out the chart (or you can call me or e-mail me).

  3. No new workbook homework. We’ve done A and B. Do late work:

Are you ready for level 3?
  • Most students take Level 2 for two or three terms.

  • You are ready for Level 3 when

    • You come to class and you do your homework.

    • You pass your tests and quizzes with 70% (C-) or higher.

    • You understand instructions when I speak and when you read.

    • I understand you when you speak and write. Your partner understands you when you speak.

    • You have strong grammar and vocabulary for our topics. You write with a capital letter and a period.

    • You can understand some specific information when you are listening.

    • Heather decides when you are ready. We can talk about it.
