Out of Office 1/14 through 2/1: New Students

This is for new students or reassigned students assigned to me as their advisor between January 14 and February 1, 2026

Greetings!

My name is Nicole Shappart and I am looking forward to helping you. I advise students who are interested in the Health and Emergency Professions.? I also work with students who are still exploring major and degree options. If you are pursuing something that is not in the healthcare field, please email me with your area of interest and I will request to have you reassigned to an advisor better suited for your goals.?

Please click here for more information about me and my advising philosophy.?

I’m here to help you achieve your academic and career goals at PCC. I can assist with course planning, exploring program options, degree requirements, and connecting you with resources. Think of me as your personal guide to academic success at PCC!?

We can meet to speak live on Zoom or at the PCC Rock Creek Campus. You can email me with quick questions, too. I prefer that you have your camera on during video (Zoom) advising appointments. Before your appointment, write down questions and topics you want to cover.

To schedule an appointment, log in to your MyPCC homepage and go to the “My advisor” box and click “Schedule an appointment”. When you schedule an appointment, you will receive an email confirmation with the meeting details.

Check out this short video about how to schedule advising appointments

If you are a new student to PCC, it is required to have your math, reading and writing placements in place prior to meeting with me. If you need to complete placements, please go to /enroll/placement-process/ or visit any of the Orientation Centers at any of our four campuses. If you need “getting started” support, please email start@pcc.edu.?

Please complete the Start Guide for Online Learners. All online courses and online hybrid courses require this module. You will not be able to register for an online course without this module. You will receive a prerequisite error when trying to register for an online course without first completing the Start Guide.?

If you have completed courses at another college or university, you can submit your official transcripts to Student Records. This office will complete a Transfer Credit Evaluation so that you can get credit for work you’ve done at another school. If the evaluation process is not done in time for our appointment, please email me an unofficial transcript prior to our appointment. It is completely fine to not have a complete evaluation prior to our appointment.?

Pre-Nursing, Pre-Radiography Technology, Pre-Dental Hygiene, Pre-Dental Assisting and Pre-Medical Assisting Students should review materials prior to their first meeting with me. Please click here for links to those materials.?

I look forward to getting to know you better and helping you meet your academic goals!
