Bio
Originally from Colorado with mixed race Anglo and Mexican-American roots, T Edward Bak is a Portland-based cartoonist and comics educator whose work is informed by history, natural history, traditional ecological knowledge, pop culture, and esoteric/occult dimensions at crossroads of western North American psychogeography and biogeography. He has been guiding PCC students through understanding and creating comics in his Community Education comics courses for several years and is perpetually enthused to introduce artists to the concepts and practice of comics storytelling.
In addition to his ongoing work on the long-form comic (or “graphic novel”) ‘ISLAND OF MEMORY, SEA OF TIME‘,?Bak is the cartoonist/writer-illustrator of the local Portland history comic book, ‘THE PEOPLES’ ELK – The Untold History of the Thompson Elk Statue’,?and the comics collection ‘NOT A PLACE TO VISIT‘. His comics have been published online at The Nib, and in print with High Country News and the anthologies Orchid, Studygroup 12, The Graphic Canon, MOME, Drawn & Quarterly Showcase, and The Best American Comics.
